ISAAA biotech Information Network Meeting Holds in Phuket, Thailand

The International Service for the Acquisition of Agri-biotech Applications (ISAAA) holds an Annual Meeting of its global information network – the Global Knowledge Center on Crop Biotechnology and the Biotechnology Information Centers (BIC).

The International Service for the Acquisition of Agri-biotech Applications (ISAAA) holds an Annual Meeting of its global information network – the Global Knowledge Center on Crop Biotechnology and the Biotechnology Information Centers (BIC). This meeting enables the network to be updated on science communication activities being implemented by the network members, and also offers an opportunity for capacity building through sharing of information and experiences by experts.
Twelve annual meeting of ISAAA was kicked start this morning by message from Clive James, Executive Director of ISAAA. He congratulated the participants for their achievements in the year 2011 amongst which he mentioned the successful dissemination of Crop Biotechnology Update (CBU) – the online weekly update. The new target was set – 1.5 million subscribers in 2013.
 
Participants from Thailand, Singapore, Pakistan, Vietnam, Indonesia, Bangladesh, Iran, Kenya, China, India, Philippines, Egypt, Malaysia, Japan, South Korea, Uganda and Peru will discuss the progress and challenges in biotechnology of their respective countries. The meeting hosted by the Biosafety and Biotechnology Information Center of Thailand (BBIC) at the Royal Phuket City Hotel, Phuket, Thailand will last for three days (11-15, March 201).
 
The new biotechnology information centers from South Korea, Uganda and Peru participate this meeting for the first time. Iran Biotechnology Information Center (IrBIC) welcomes the representatives from new BICs to the ISAAA annual meeting and whishes a very successful workshop for the participants.
